Project Implementation
The Project will be implemented on a BOT (Build Operate & Transfer of Technology) basis, operational for 15 to 25 years with royalty granted to the Government under the BOT program.
Environmental Impact
This is assured that the entire project will be totally free of environmental hazards, no pollution what so ever or any damages to the coastline nor disturb the habitat in any way, this route has no wildlife or bird sanctuaries nor it will be harmful to the marine life, however the environmental report will be produced when called for.
Hotel Project at Colombo Fort Railway Terminal
To accommodate an estimated 8500 passengers to and fro daily the need will arise for Fort Railway Station to be developed into a modern structural building with all facilities at an investment of USD 100 Million.
It is proposed with this project to build a Luxury Hotel at a cost of USD 100 Million, in addition to the Project cost. This Hotel at the terminal will generate cash flow of USD 200 Million at the end of the 13th year. This amount can be repaid within 5 years.
Construction of this Hotel will take a period of 3 years which will be simultaneously constructed with the Rail Project. This will bring an annual income from rental USD 20 Million from the 4th year to the 13th year.
