Sustainability as is widely acknowledged, is the requirement to provide for human needs to exist without damaging or depleting nature’s resources, not only for the present generations, but for all future generations. Maadeee believes that there is more to sustainability than just the natural resources. Social and economic sustainability must also be key factors in present-day built environment planning and delivery. The ability to tap into the local marketplace wherever we build is vital for the local economy in providing jobs, and trade with local suppliers. It is Maadee’s philosophy that we contribute to the local region’s continuous development in this fashion, and our Corporate Social Responsibility unites into this. On a more detailed look at the way projects are designed and built, we involve ourselves as much as we can in the process of the requirements of the differing systems to rate sustainable developments
The Verdant city concept is a pioneering development in Sri Lanka. Done to create the perfect “sustainable city within a city” with fresh organic vegetation grown in the occupants’ own garden. The reuse of rainwater to sustain the vegetation and maximum use of light and ventilation to facilitate each component in the project, have been carefully thought of in this first of its kind development.
In this green development we have allocated spaces separately for recreational parks and water features, grabbing the attention of the children as well as the adults. This will accompany a green walk with restaurants that uses the organic food freshly prepared in the site itself. The public water park is an attraction that features state of the art rides for the whole family.
